Deadmau5 interviews n stuff

First of all, Engadget, one of my favourite tech sites, did a little bit of a tech rundown of his live setup, with the cube and the LED mau5head. That's pretty cool.

Second of all, this one.

Shows a bit of his house, he does a little commentary on Daft Punk, and more of a look at his personal life a little bit.

Third of all, Deadmau5' twitter got hacked recently, however all is back to normal and you can indeed still follow him on @Deadmau5.

Deadmau5 won some awards, too. He won the juno for the 4th year in a row for Best Dance Recording, and he won the Beatport community choice award. Anything this guy can't do?

And lastly...I'm just procrastinating on searching through the wave of videos from UMF for all the good ones...but it did happen, and mau5trap's own Deadmau5, Feed Me, Skrillex and SOFI were there, including the mau5trap + beatport beach party - You can see the photos here.

Deadmau5 (and the rest of mau5trap) at Ultra 2011

(Note: videos are obviously still being uploaded to Youtube...therefore this is a work in progress post)

Deadmau5 headlined the Saturday show at Ultra. He came armed with his cube...also, SOFI, and some music.

It was pretty much a stock cube set, not many new tracks performed as far as I can tell. He was cut off at 12am due to time constrictions, therefore he didn't get to play Strobe as his ending song. Oh, but, instead there was confetti.

So on with the videos (bad quality vids will be replaced with the best quality vids)

Various clips (including some of carl cox)

Limit Break and Some Chords

the end of Some Chords.

Reward is Cheese / Bad Selection

SOFI Needs a Ladder (and is that live drums I hear? perhaps Tommy Lee was performing with them, just like last year. Meanwhile, do you remember that SOFI said she was going to be a hologram in her interview with MTV? I can't see it in this video, it's too far away.)

A huge chunk of the whole set, including Ghosts n Stuff, Maths, Get in the Cart Pig, and Sometimes Things Get Whatever.

Cthulhu Sleeps.

Sometimes Things Get Whatever

Maths

FML

more FML.

Right This Second (bad quality for the most part however it shows the full stage pretty well)

dubstep part of Raise Your Weapon

ditto.

Moguai + SOFI new collaboration "Beat of the Drum" out on mau5trap now!

B-b-beat of the drum...

Usually Moguai has done alot of progressive work on mau5trap. This is much more reminiscent of his other work, with a much more electro feel. And the ballad is completed by SOFI, with her vocals easily complimenting and completing a great track.

As promised, it came out around UMF. A reminder that Deadmau5 is planned to be headlining UMF tomorrow, 26th March.

As outlined by Saikotic in his last post, there's a mau5trap miami party going on, too...

Fail.

Not much for track news, though a new remix did surface on youtube this past week.

From the deadmau5 webpage:

deadmau5′s facebook and twitter accounts have been hacked by an illegal filesharing website. All of those following @deadmau5 on twitter will now have been redirected to @itsleetwarez . We will be working closely with Facebook and Twitter to ensure all his information is restored as soon as possible.

For the time being, for updates on deadmau5, please come here. (or you can check the RFT thread here, more updates will be posted there first.)

If you're in Miami for Ultra, make sure you hit up the Beatport mau5trap party! Click here for the facebook event and more information. (the things I would do to be there...lol).

New Moguai and SOFI collaboration - "Beat of the Drum" / New Skrillex and SOFI collaboration - "Bring Out the Devil"?

Moguai and SOFI have teamed up for a new collaboration, "Beat of the Drum". According to SOFI this came about as both of them have German roots, so it seemed natural. In an interview with MTV she states it has a "dizzee rascal kind of feel".

(includes teaser of said song)

Also from the interview, she talks about her first experience at Ultra last year, performing SOFI needs a ladder. For this year, she talks about a new development for the show - something about a holographic SOFI! (To match Deadmau5' jazzy mau5head). Sounds interesting, hard to imagine, we'll blog on it.

This single should be out on Mau5trap around the time of Ultra fest (weekend of 26th march), so not that long to wait! We'll have all the details on it as soon as they happen...

Meanwhile Deadmau5 is headlining next Saturday at Ultra, so we'll keep you updated with the best videos from that. Infact, most of the mau5trap crew will be there - Feed Me and Skrillex also attending the sold out festival. Nice!

Moguai isn't the only one to get some SOFI vocals, a recent live performance with SOFI and Skrillex slipped past my eyes last month. It seems to be called "Bring Out the Devil", and you know what to expect from both...

So, SOFI mayhem on Mau5trap...and an immensely busy time for electronic music...!

Thick and fast...

HR 8938 Cephei, the same Soundcloud song Deadmau5 was working on yesterday, is to be released on Beatport very soon. Evidently he was that stoked about it that he believed it deserved it.

Personally, I'm still pondering about how to pronounce the 3rd word...

I'll make a new post with details, a single cover, where to buy it, as soon as it happens.

Now if you excuse me I'm going to go back to watching Beatport intently.

Here's the full soundcloud song if you can't be bothered to scroll down:

Again, a more progressive sound. Reminds me of Strobe. Also is brilliant.

Soundcloud tracks / works in progress

Deadmau5 - Bleed by fuckmylife

Update: And another one...

Update 2: A longer version...

Bleed - Reminiscent of older works such as Creep. Very beautiful piece.

HR 8938 Cephei - Another revisit of older styles - more progressive than recent works.

Meanwhile deadmau5' twitter is a good place to be looking to determine what might eventually be gracing our ears very soon.

So it looks like a SOFI collaboration, a redux of Get in the Cart, Pig, and another remake of some sort. Deadmau5 appears to be working hard in the studio at the moment.

Oh, and don’t forget that collaboration with Imogen Heap...

Meanwhile don’t forget you can book tickets for Deadmau5’ show at Victoria Park in London here. The show is on the 11th June. Via Pete Tong on Radio 1 it is confirmed he will be appearing among Skrillex, Nero, Mark Ronson, Calvin Harris, Zane Lowe, and Modestep. Deadmau5 will be headlining the show.

Also don't forget that Deadmau5 will be performing at UMF (Ultra Music Festival) 26th March in Miami.

And as a quick note you can follow me on twitter at twitter.com/Psyl4rk. If you want to.

Also you can be a fan of mau5 it up on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mau5-It-Up/100251883368332?ref=ts

Stimming Remix of Raise Your Weapon previewed on Radio 1

As promised, Pete Tong premiered a new Deadmau5 song today (11th March)

Although it was only a remix - a remix of Raise Your Weapon by Stimming.

Deadmau5 has often been fond of Stimming's tracks and has often played them in his live sets. Stimming has a very minimal / tech house style. After hearing of this remix, it seems likely that maybe a remix EP will be released on mau5trap soon.

There you have it.

Also from the Radio 1 show, Pete Tong announced that more artists have been added to the L.E.D festival lineup in June this year - joining Deadmau5 will be among the likes of Skrillex. Stay tuned for more official info.

New Moguai Compilation out on Mau5trap now

http://bit.ly/euci1X - Buy on Beatport

Huge new Moguai compilation, infact, featuring reworks of We Ar Lyve, new tracks, semi new tracks, and allsorts. Also includes stems of a new track called Oxygen featuring Fiora.

Also included is the full mixed "lyve" DJ set from Beta in Denver. Overall this is a huge compilation featuring not only tracks from Moguai, but from lots of areas. If you've liked Moguai but haven't bought anything yet, now would be a good time to hop on.
